Busy summer ahead for DL

Josh Boyd is one of the top defensive prospects from the state of Mississippi. Boyd, 6-3 and 270 pounds recorded 154 tackles, 27 tackles for a loss, eight sacks, four punt blocks, two PAT blocks, and caused three fumbles for Philadelphia (Miss.) High School. Despite the productive junior season Boyd wants better numbers in 2008.
"Spring ball went well," Boyd said. "We finished up this past Thursday and lost 14-13. I think it shows where we needed to improve. I had nine tackles and they were even running away from me. I still need to work on my quickness off ball. I am getting quicker but it still needs work. Overall, I just want to have a bigger presence on the field."

According to Boyd he has nine scholarship offers and right now no one stands above anyone else.
"I am really open right now and I like all of them. I am thinking real hard on it.
"I am looking at coaching staffs, tradition and the way they play the game. I am also looking at school environment and whether or not I want to stay or leave Mississippi. Right now it really doesn't matter."
Boyd has taken unofficial visits to Southern Miss, Mississippi State and Alabama. He is planning to have a busy summer.
"I want to go see FSU, LSU, Michigan, Auburn, and Ole Miss. I will talk with my coach and make a plan. Many of these visits will be to their (summer) camps."
