Busy summer ahead for Allen

Spring has been busy for Humble (Texas) Summer Creek linebacker Dakota Allen. The 6-2, 228-pound defender has seen offers come from the likes of Colorado, Houston, Illinois, Kansas, Kansas State, TCU, and Texas Tech, and more are on the way.

On Tuesday Allen welcomed an offer from Grambling, and both Missouri and Arizona State are coming on strong.

With so many offers and schools showing interest it has been hard for Allen to narrow his list, so this summer he will take to the road in search of answers.

"I don't know about camps but this summer I will definitely be doing a lot of college visits so I can make a decision about mid-summer," Allen said. "I'm going to visit TCU, Texas Tech, Kansas, Kansas State, Colorado, Iowa State, and if Missouri offers I'll go to Missouri and if Arizona State offers I'll go to Arizona State."

The dates for his campus visits have not been scheduled, but he plans to hit the road at around the beginning of summer. He hopes the visits give him clarity when it is time to make his decision.

"I'm doing a lot of research but I can't tell where I'm going to be until I actually see the campus," Allen said. "So right now I'm going to narrow it down by the campus visits."

What will he be looking for on his visits?

"Coaches, I'm looking for great coaches who I'll be interacting with," Allen said. "The players, also the players. Also lifestyle, like where it's at and where it's located because I'm going to be there for four or five years so I want to be comfortable where I'm at. Things like that."

His summer visits will not be his first college trips. He took an early trip to UTSA and attended Houston's spring game, and even though he does not have some schools on his summer visit list that does not mean they have been eliminated.

"I just want to know more about them because the other schools I kind of have a gist of them like location and what they look like," Allen said. "These schools I have to get a closer look at."
