Busy month ahead for CB Beckford

Charlottesville (Va.) Albemarle cornerback Mike Beckford has a busy month remaining this summer. The 6-foot-0, 186-pounder plans to make a trip down to the Sunshine State and is looking at transferring schools.
"On July 7th, I'm going to see my family in Florida who I haven't seen in a year," he said. "I plan to be back from that trip by mid-July.

"While I'm there I'm going to try to visit Florida, Florida State and Miami. I haven't really heard much from them yet, but hopefully I can get them to look at me more."
Meanwhile, Beckford is looking to head out of Albemarle.
"I haven't decided on prep school, but I have three choices between Blue Ridge, DeMatha and Hargrave," he stated. "I'd like to enroll in August just to play some better competition for my senior year.
"Right now I'm leaning towards Blue Ridge because you get a bit more freedom there. My family also wants me to go there since the military schools will have me cut my hair and I'm Rastafarian."
At this time, the three-star prospect maintains that one school is sticking out for his services.
"Maryland is on top right now," he said. "I went there and was talking to coach Friedgen and the rest of the staff. I've built a good relationship with them really fast. I really liked attending practice there and the whole staff has sent me a lot of letters which really caught my eye.
"I am really looking at a bunch of other schools too including Clemson, Louisville and of course Rutgers since my brother William goes there."
Is Beckford close to a decision?
"I'm going to take visits before I make a decision anywhere."
