Busy January set for Texas QB

Port Arthur (Texas) Memorial Donovan Porterie has four visits on his calendar. The only free weekend in January is coming up next week, and that weekend may fill up in the next day or two.

"I have already visited New Mexico," the 6-foot-2, 188-pound Porterie said. "They are right up there on my list. I enjoyed the trip and learned a lot. That visit was back the weekend of Dec. 17. I was supposed to go to Syracuse this coming weekend for my second visit, but with the coaching change, I might look at them later, but I don't know who the coach is going to be."

Instead of the Orange, Porterie may trip to Ames, Iowa the weekend of Jan. 7.

"Iowa State got a commitment from another quarterback a week or two ago," he said. "But, the coaches are still wanting me to come visit there. I might go there this weekend, but I don't know yet. I'll try to decide in the next day or two whether to take the trip or not."

Following the weekend of the 7th, Porterie will keep on the go. He will travel to Tulsa (Jan. 14), Louisiana Tech (Jan. 21) and Texas State (Jan. 28).

"All of those are set, right now," he said. "If something comes up that I feel is a better fit, I might consider taking that trip instead. We'll see how things go from here."
