Burton talks Bama offer

Brandon Burton talked to an assistant at Gardena (Calif.) Serra on Sunday and heard the excellent news that he had just received an offer from Alabama.
Burton has received plenty of major offers but this one definitely stands out as well since the four-star said he knows Alabama is one of the nation's best football programs.

"I was talking to coach Rico (Perez) and he told me Lane Kiffin offered me to play receiver for the University of Alabama," Burton said. "I've talked to coach (Tosh) Lupoi and coach Kiffin on many occasions."
Burton, rated as the sixth-best safety and the No. 45 prospect in the 2016 class by Rivals.com, has received a lot of offers to play defense. He also has a passion for receiver and since Alabama offered for offense it is a big deal.
"That's really important especially because now people are actually starting to see the other side of the ball," Burton said. "I can play receiver. I've been ranked so high as a safety they really forgot that I can also play on the offensive side of the ball and do it at a very high level.
"It's just a blessing that a school is actually noticing what I can do on the offensive side of the ball."
The Alabama offer is big. Burton is not making any promises yet but he's considering a visit to Tuscaloosa - possibly in the fall - and said an Alabama offer has to be taken seriously because of the program's prestige.
"Once you get an offer from Alabama they have to be high on your list because that's the No. 1 football school in the nation just off of statistics," Burton said. "They've put a lot of people in the NFL and won a lot of championships so that's a school that has a lot of consideration.
"I've actually been trying to plan out my official visits. There are five official visits and there are also five power conferences. I was thinking about taking one official to one school in each of the five power conferences."
No official trips have been finalized yet. Burton has said recently that he plans to take unofficial visits to Arizona, Arizona State, Washington, Oregon, Ohio State and Florida State. USC and UCLA are also very much in the picture.
