Clay Burton is a defensive end prospect from Venice High School. This past week he picked two new offers. One was a local scholarship offer and the other was from a school in a neighboring state.
"Georgia Tech and USF offered," Burton said. ""Georgia Tech offered me last week. I talked with coach (Charles) Kelly. Then I talked with coach (Al) Groh. They liked my tape and said I was impressed. I talked with coach (Paul) Johnson and then he offered me. That was really cool and impressive. I will take a trip up there for sure.
"I was just at USF for a junior day yesterday. It was short and sweet. It was good to meet the new coaching staff. They are really nice guys and they showed me love. They liked my tape. Coach (Skip) Holtz and coach (Mark) Snyder offered me. I was very happy about that. The coaches are passionate about recruiting and about football. They seem to be headed in right direction. One of my best friends goes there (Brandon Wilkerson) and he's already enrolled up there and loves it."
Burton, 6-3 and 230 pounds, also has scholarship offers from Clemson, Notre Dame, Purdue, Rutgers and Stanford.
"I was in touch with North Carolina and they said they would push an offer soon. We'll see."
