Burton picks the Badgers

Donte Burton traveled north for an official visit to Wisconsin this weekend and the Peach State cornerback did not leave before giving the Badger coaching staff some big news.

"I have committed to Wisconsin," said Burton. "I chose Wisconsin because it is a program that not only provides great reward on the field but off the field as well. It is place with great coaches and people that build life long relationships with players. It is a place of history and prestige and a great thing to be a part of.

"I also chose Wisconsin because they love me and they love what I bring to the table. The fan base is amazing too; they love their Badgers and that a special thing that I felt as I watched the game. "

He gave the Wisconsin defensive coordinator the news before he left his visit.

"The coach I committed to is coach Jim Leonard. He has been at the level I strive to get to and he knows what it take to get there and stay there.

"Wisconsin is truly the fit for me because of the scheme they play and how it fits my skill set. All the coaches showed major love and told me what they love about my game, from the position coaches all the way to the athletic director. That was big.

"I am proud to call myself a Badger."

Burton is a 5-foot-11, 173 pound cornerback who plays aggressive. He likes to mix it up at the line of scrimmage and he will bring a toughness and confidence to the Badger secondary.

Other schools high on his list before committing to Wisconsin were Pittsburgh, Notre Dame and Oregon.
