Burns has a favorite

Hattiesburg, Miss., inside linebacker Charles Burns is one of the top defenders in the Magnolia State. He is massive for an inside linebacker and some feel that he could end up on the defensive line in college.
“So far I have gotten calls from Mississippi State, West Virginia and Ole Miss,” Burns said. “I have offers from Mississippi State, Notre Dame, West Virginia and Marshall. I’m getting a lot of interest from Ole Miss, but they still have not offered.”

The 6-foot-2, 250-pound Burns attended the NIKE camp in Baton Rouge where he ran the 40-yard dash in 5.06 seconds, ran the shuttle in 4.47 seconds, had a 28-inch vertical jump and did 21 reps on the bench press.
“My favorites right now are Mississippi State, Ole Miss, West Virginia, Notre Dame and Auburn,” Burns said. “I would say that West Virginia is No. 1 on my list right now. They have really been paying me a lot of attention. I have gotten a ton of handwritten letters and things like that from them.”
Burns, who is ranked as the No. 16 player in the state of Mississippi by Rivals.com, racked up six sacks during his junior campaign.
“I was supposed to go to the Mississippi State game last week, but I had some family issues come up,” Burns said. “I plan on taking all of my official visits before I make a decision. I’m not sure who is going to get my visits yet, but I am going to start trying to schedule some of them soon.”
