Burks getting interest for safety

No matter which position he ends up at, Houston Spring Woods defender Greg Burks certainly has great potential.
The 6-foot-1, 200-pounder is being mostly recruited as a safety. However, his coach, Dwayne Eggerman, had said when he was a sophomore that he has the chance to be a better linebacker than Atlanta Falcons star Demorrio Williams. Burks, who is getting mail from several Big 12 schools, says he prefers to play as a defensive back.

"I want to play safety," Burks said. "I just like being back there and seeing the whole field. That's where most schools are recruiting me."
Those schools include Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Nebraska, and Kansas among many others. Burks has received mail for several junior days, but hasn't made one yet. That will probably change as he plans to visit one school in the near future.
"I may go to Texas A&M, but I forgot which date it was that I was invited to," Burks said. "I like Texas A&M because it's close to home."
Burks denies having one favorite school. He said if he had to guess who would offer first by how heavy the mail is coming in, he'd have to go with Texas Tech.
"They send me a lot, I mean a lot of stuff," Burks said. "I think they would be the one to come through first."
Burks is working out for football and also participating in track. He's running the 4x100 relay along with the long jump and triple jump.
He was an all-district honorable mention as a junior.
