Burkhalter getting most from Auburn

In a year in which the state of Alabama is not top heavy, there are still quite a few Division I players in the Heart of Dixie. Alabama, like Georgia, seems to have more big men than skill players in the class of 2005.
Ashland (Ala.) Clay County center/defensive end Chris Burkhalter is getting interest from several big time programs around the country.

“I’ve gotten stuff from Alabama, Auburn, Arkansas, LSU, Michigan, Illinois, Arizona State, Oregon, UAB, Louisville and Georgia Tech,” Burkhalter said. “I have probably gotten the most stuff from Auburn.”
The 6-foot-2, 260 pound Burkhalter runs the 40 yard dash in 5.1 seconds and boasts a 270 pound bench press and 500 pound squat.
“My top two schools are probably Alabama and Auburn. LSU, Arkansas and Michigan would probably be the other schools in my top five. I really would like to hear from Duke and Vanderbilt also.”
A starter since the 8th grade, Burkhalter picked up all-area honors as a junior. He collected around 90 tackles and graded out near 80 percent for the year at center.
“I really want to play for a school that is competitive. I know that I want to be a coach after I graduate so I want to look for a school that has a good program for that.”
Perhaps the most impressive quality about Burkhalter is his 4.0 GPA and a 33 ACT score. He has a very good chance to be Valedictorian.
