Burfict shines again

After watching Corona (Calif.) Centennial linebacker Vontaze Burfict earlier in the year against Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei, we were convinced he was the top junior 'backer in the state. After seeing him in person once more against Norco (Calif.) this past Friday, Burfict could very well be the best linebacker in the state right now.
At a rock solid 6-2, 230 pounds, Burfict looks like a colllege 'backer right now. He's a very physical player who hits like a truck, runs very well and plays with an edge to him. He's the type of player you love to play with, but hate to play against because of his aggressive style and swagger he plays with.

Burfict is a very good tackler and is not just blessed with great physical gifts, he's very well coached and plays with great technique and instincts. He's always around the ball and made so many big plays in this game, he even had the Norco crowd (where we were sitting) talking about his talent.
"He has to be a five star player next year," Centennial quarterback Matt Scott said after the game. "I can't imagine there being a better linebacker anywhere in the country, he's just ridiculous out there."
Husky coach Matt Logan echoed those comments.
"He's a very talented player," Logan said. "He has had a great year for us and bring everything he has, every game. He may be our quarterback next year, you should see him throw the ball but his future is obviously as a linebacker down the road."
On the recruiting front, Burfict said he's really not focused much on recruiting right now.
"I'm letting my coaches handle that," Burfict said. "I'm just trying to work hard in the classroom and I'll let all the recruiting stuff take care of itself later on."
