"I really like USF," he said "I liked coach (Jim Leavitt) and coach Burnham."
Burnham and the Bulls did not offer Dorsey until he gave his verbal commitment. He also had a scholarship offer from Division II Valdosta State.
Dorsey cited this season as a big step for the program. The Bulls made their first bowl game in school history and will face North Carolina State in the Meineke Car Care Bowl at 11 a.m. EST Dec. 31 in Charlotte.
"I thought they had a real good season," he said. "They are in a BCS conference and have a chance to make a BCS bowl every year."
Dorsey will make his official visit to South Florida the weekend of Jan. 13.
"I'm looking forward to seeing the great atmosphere," he said.
