Bulls bag DT commitment

Orlando (Fla.) Edgewater every year has one of the deepest talent pools in the state of Florida. So it's no surprise to see the USF Bulls dip their toes into it and snag a solid commitment from one of its top prospects in the class of 2006.
"I called coach (Greg) Gregory and coach (Earl) Lane last night and told them that I wanted to become a Bull," Edgewater defensive tackle Justin Jenkins said. "They then told me to get in touch with coach (Jim) Leavitt and tell them that I was committing to them. I just talked to him about an hour ago."

So was the USF coach excited?
"You bet he was," Jenkins said. "He told me to come down there ready to play because they're going to be counting on me. It's really a program on the rise. The more they mature, the more big time recruits they're going to get. By the time I graduate, I can promise you that we're going to be in a big-time bowl game."
Jenkins is a 6-foot-2, 285-pound defensive tackle that also plays tight end some for Edgewater. He had 73 tackles, including 42 solo stops as a junior.
"I'm a guy that has great quickness," Jenkins said. "I can both rush the passer and stop the run. I think I'm very good at both. I've really worked hard over the past few months and think I'm much more of a complete defensive lineman now.
"If you were to watch me in my first five games last year, you'd notice that I only had one more. I worked hard with my coach after practice each week, and by the sixth game, I developed a swim move. That really helped me out."
Jenkins said he's been time at 4.8 seconds in the 40-yard dash and he was clocked at 4.9 seconds this past week at the Georgia summer camp.
