Buffalo leads for Williams

Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) University School defensive tackle Patrick Williams was committed to Buffalo, but earlier this season the 6-foot-2, 280-pounder decided to open things back up.
"The reason why I backed off is because I wanted to focus - everybody was asking me why Buffalo - and I wasn't really into talking about college because I was worried about my senior year," Williams said. "I didn't want to get caught up talking about the next level when I still have things to do in high school. That is what I needed to focus on."

Since opening things back up, Williams said he has remained in contact with the Bulls but also heard from a number of other schools.
"I have been keeping in touch with Buffalo," Williams said. "I am getting a lot more looks from Youngstown State, Middle Tennessee, Marshall, FAU, FIU, and New Mexico."
While he intends to evaluate his options, he admits that Buffalo has the inside track for his signature at this point.
"Buffalo is having a losing season this year but they are still keeping in contact and I am feeling the love from them," Williams said. "I am pretty sure it is still going to be Buffalo, like the way I feel right now it is probably going to be Buffalo but I am just going to wait until the season is over to get that all straightened out."
His primary recruiter for the Bulls is Ernest Jones, who he thinks very highly of.
"We have a very tight relationship," Williams said. "He reminds me a lot of the coaches that I deal with now and last year. He keeps it on a family basis. He is more an inside man, he doesn't talk to me about football, he usually talks about school and life outside of football. He asks me what I am trying to do to make myself better so that when I get to college I will already be prepared."
Once his senior season has concludes, Williams expects to hit the road for a few official visits.
"My first visit will be to Buffalo in December, right after football season, I think December 12th is the date," Williams said. "I also think I am going to visit Youngstown, FAU, and probably Marshall. No dates for those yet."
University School is 9-0 on the season and will look to complete a perfect regular season when they take on Miami (Fla.) Belen Jesuit. They will open in the playoffs against Hollywood (Fla.) Chaminade-Madonna. On his senior season, Williams says he has racked up 14 sacks.
Academically, Williams has a 3.3 GPA and earned an 800 on the SAT.
