Buckeyes latest to offer Hawkins

Marqui Hawkins of Columbus (Ga.) Carver will play any position the coaches want him at in college. But given his choice, he would prefer to be on offense.
"I want to play receiver," Hawkins said.

Currently, the 6-feet-2, 190-pounder has 10 offers with the most recent coming Thursday from Ohio State. Some of the teams in that group like him at receiver, while others prefer him at safety.
Asked if those recruiting him for offense had any type of edge, Hawkins replied, "Yes sir." That said, Hawkins told Rivals.com he is not yet ready to name a leader or even provide a list of top schools.
Hawkins recently visited Clemson, which is recruiting him for defense.
"I was there to see practice," he said. "It was great. I had time to sit and talk to the players and coaches, and go around the campus to look at all the new buildings. I got to meet [Clemson coach] Dabo Swinney. That's when they offered me. It's a great school. I'm going back I think next week."
This Saturday, Hawkins will visit Auburn. That's one of the programs recruiting him to play receiver.
"I like Auburn because of the depth chart," Hawkins said. "They have a lot of seniors at receiver. They'd give me time to go in and play early."
After visiting Auburn and Clemson, Hawkins plans to check out some other schools soon.
"I know I'm going to Tennessee, Mississippi State and Florida," Hawkins said. "I just don't know the dates."
When might Hawkins trim his list of schools?
"Maybe in early August," Hawkins said. "That gives me time to go visit most of the schools [that have offered]."
