"I committed to Ohio State today," four star quarterback Troy Smith said. "I talked to coach Tressel and coach Tucker."
"It was simply because my mom wanted me to make a decision and she wanted me to go to Ohio State. She likes Ohio State's tradition and she likes me staying close to home."
"And I like the tradition. The facilities are great. The coaching staff is great. I like the players. It's close to home. It's a perfect fit for me."
"They're supposed to send me a letter of intent tomorrow. I'm going to tell West Virginia tonight. I'm glad to be a Buckeye."
Smith, 6-foot-1 and 200 pounds, had close to 1400 all-purpose yards for Cleveland (Ohio) Glenville, which finished 9-2.
Smith still needs to pass his test, but has close to a 3.0 GPA.
