Brunetti with big start to junior year

Barry Brunetti is a 2010 quarterback prospect for Memphis University School and he has led his team to a 4-0 record this year with wins against Melrose, Kingsbury, Carver and Olive Branch (Miss.). None were bigger than beating one of the top teams from the Magnolia State. In that game Brunetti rushed for 98 yards and two scores and also threw for two touchdown passes.
"That was a really big win for us," Brunetti said. "I know we were big underdogs but we won. But as our coach said we can't make that win the highlight of our season. We have another big one this week."

That they do, as MUS travels to play their biggest rival, Christian Brothers. In fact, it's more like a neighborhood rivalry with the schools in very close proximity.
"They are about a minute from us. This rivalry goes way back. I mean way back. They are 4-0 and their place will be sold out. We have to be ready."
In their four wins Brunetti has accounted for nine scores and rushed for 303 yards.
"I am definitely running the ball better. I am exploding out of my cuts much faster. I have had some big runs and that's what we needed. We lost (WR) Taylor Reed (broken collarbone) and another starter this season. But we have had two other receivers step up. I think I am playing the position of quarterback better this year and I am certainly throwing the ball better."
In terms of recruiting Brunetti is still waiting on his first scholarship offer. Teams like Illinois, Oregon and Middle Tennessee State could be close. But now that he has played four games into his junior season other teams are taking notice and Brunetti will soon need to get a bigger mail box.
"It has really picked up and I am getting a ton of mail every day. New schools have started sending me stuff like Alabama, LSU, Clemson and Georgia Tech. I am really interested in Georgia Tech and that offense. I read up recently on Paul Johnson and the triple option. I want to go see them sometime in November."
Brunetti is going to send out film to a bunch of schools this week. He is planning to go to a game in Knoxville this season. He has already been to a Memphis (vs Rice) game."
