Junior to Watch: Lyle Wise
School: Claremont, Calif.

Position: Fullback/Defensive Lineman
Size and Speed: Wise stands 6-foot-0, weighs 265 pounds and runs the 40 in 4.78. Great work ethic, he never misses a workout. His bench is 385 pounds, his squat is 550 and his power clean is 295.
Honors: N/A.
Statistics: N/A.
Favorite Colleges: Wise is getting looks from Utah, Colorado State, UNLV, Oregon State, Oregon, Washington State, and UConn.
Skinny: Wise is the prototypical modern fullback prospect. He is a tremendous blocker and his running style is reminiscent of Tampa Bay Buccaneer standout Mike Alstott.
Wise has good speed for a guy his size. He may not break a long on sheer speed but he may break the long on sheer brutality, meaning running over an entire defense. This guy doesn’t back down from contact. As a matter of fact, Wise searches contact out on a play.
As a blocker Wise buries opponents. The way he pancakes opponents you would think he was a lineman.
Wise has good bloodlines his cousin Jason Hooks was an All-WAC selection in the mid-90’s for the Utah Utes so the Utes definitely are in the hunt for his services.
Wise will also play defensive line and some schools may be tempted to play him at nose guard on the next level.
Wise has legendary work ethic. “Lyle is the strongest player on the team,” Claremont head coach Mike Collins said. “He was the strongest man on our team as a junior, too.”
Wise would be a terrific pick-up for any team that runs a single back (Colorado State likes him as a single back) or battering ram type of fullback.
Right now Wise is a Regional type of recruit but he is talented and somewhat of a sleeper. Look for his stock to rise with a solid senior season.
