Bruins land first

The Bruins scored their first verbal commitment of season after their scrimmage when P.J. Irvin (6-3, 270, 5.4) from Agoura, Calif., pledged to UCLA. Irvin told BruinBlitz that it was always a dream of his to play for UCLA and when the offer came through, he gave the Bruins his pledge. “I loved the atmosphere and the coaches were awesome,” Irvin said. “UCLA has excellent academics and the school has everything I want in a school.” Irvin was an all-league selection as a junior and he was getting recruiting attention from USC.
In a previous ticker Pac10recruiting noted that Irvin is a very powerful blocker who has terrific balance and technique. He also has those long arms you like to see in an offensive lineman.

“P.J. is the guy you don’t have to talk to on Saturday morning’s film session, unless you are giving praise,” Agoura head coach Charlie Wegher said.
The UCLA Bruins get a player who has the potential to be quite good. He is an unfinished product with the ability and the frame that D-I schools love.
Good get for UCLA…
