Darian Owens recently narrowed his extensive list to seven schools, but for a while he has known UCLA was the right place for him.

The four-star wide receiver from Fresno (Calif.) Clovis West made it official on Friday afternoon when he committed to the Bruins during a ceremony at his school.
Fresno State, Notre Dame, Oregon, Oregon State, USC and Washington were the other finalists for Owens, who punched his ticket to the Rivals100 Five-Star Challenge Presented by Under Armour with a stellar performance at the Rivals Camp Series in Las Vegas.
Out to prove he's one of the best receivers in this class, Owens will be back to compete again at the Rivals Camp Series in Los Angeles on May 10.
"I already knew where I wanted to go a month ago and I have the best relationship with coach (UCLA wide receivers coach Eric) Yarber out of every other coach," Owens said. "UCLA honestly gave off a home feel. I love the offense and the academics at the school are perfect. They have what I want to major in."
Owens is currently rated as the seventh-best receiver in California, which has an absolutely loaded group at that position this recruiting cycle, but he has a really good chance of moving up even higher following his performance in Las Vegas.
Not only has Owens proven to be a top wide receiver, but the 6-foot, 192-pound prospect shined at safety during the Pylon 7v7 in Las Vegas recently.
It is on offense where the Bruins like him most, and that's particularly important to Owens because one of the bonuses of picking UCLA is he will almost definitely get to play with quarterback Josh Rosen, a former five-star who finished second overall in the 2015 rankings.
Owens said he knew UCLA was the right place for some time, but catching passes from Rosen is an added benefit to playing with the Bruins.
"He has the perfect arm and I've watched him play since his junior year," Owens said. "I'm definitely looking forward to playing with him."
In six games during his junior season, Owens finished with 52 receptions for 886 yards and six touchdowns.
