Bruins, Buffs in mix for Louisiana RB

Record-setting New Orleans (La.) Jesuit running back Chris Markey has narrowed his list down to five schools and is in the midst of four straight official visit weekends.
“He visited Southern Miss and UCLA so far,” Jesuit coach Vic Eumont said. “Southern Miss was in December. He just got back from UCLA last weekend and really enjoyed it. But he said the same things after his trip to Southern Miss, so I’m not sure really how to judge things right now.

“He’ll be going to Tulane this weekend (1/16), then Mississippi State (1/23) and Colorado (1/30). I think he wants to take all of his visits before he makes his final decision.”
Markey (5-11, 195, 4.55) is coming off a senior season which saw him rush for 2,837 yards and 45 touchdowns. He accounted for 3,504 all-purpose yards on 382 attempts, averaging 9.1 yards every time he touched the ball and 270 yards per game.
“He broke all the rushing records in the state of Louisiana,” Eumont said. “Everything you can think of. It was one of the most incredible seasons I’ve ever seen. He started the season with five straight 200-yard rushing games, and then he finished the year in three of our last four games with three games over 300 yards in the playoffs. He had 16 touchdowns in those three games against Holy Cross, St. Amant and East St. John.”
Markey was named the Class 5A all-state offensive MVP.
