Browne ready to cap prep career in Army Bowl

MORE: U.S. Army All-American Bowl roster
Max Browne watched former Sammamish (Wash.) Skyline teammate Jake Heaps play in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl, followed the all-star event for years and will get his opportunity in a few months to showcase his abilities in San Antonio.

Browne, the top-rated pro-style quarterback and No. 10 prospect in the 2013 class by Rivals.com, was presented with his Army game jersey Friday during a presentation at his high school.
The five-star recruit has accomplished plenty in his high school career and he said playing in the Army Bowl will be a nice topper as he looks forward to his time at USC.
"I've been watching it for a few years," Browne said. "I really started following it when Jake started playing in it. I've known about it for a long time. I was able to go down to the combine after my sophomore year. When I got the invite to the Army game I knew that was the one for me.
"People at my school before me have done it and it seemed like a great fit for me. I've already been down to the combine and I'm looking forward to heading down there again."
Browne has put up monster statistics through his high school career. He threw for more than 8,000 yards with 95 touchdowns in his sophomore and junior seasons combined, and the five-star said he's especially excited to test his skills against top national competition during Army week.
"It's going to be pretty crazy," Browne said. "I've played in some pretty big high school games but to play on the national stage with the talent that's going to be on the field that day, the stakes are going to be pretty high but I think if I stick to what I've been doing, there are reasons I was fortunate enough to get this invite, I'm sure I'll be fine.
"It's going to be a great experience and there will be a lot of great talent out there so it should be a good time. All the talent on the field, it's going to be fun not only playing against that top talent but to have some big-time playmakers on your own team.
"It will be great to get exposed to that one more time before hitting the college ranks. I've been able to get to know a lot of these guys at the camps this past summer so I'm looking forward to playing one last time in a full contact game should be something special."
Part of the excitement of Army week is that so much talent is congregated in one area that a lot of recruiting happens between the players.
Browne, who's been committed to USC since April, said he realizes the Trojans don't have much room left in their recruiting class but he's going to do anything he can to convince the last few stragglers to join him in the class.
"On paper we have all our spots locked up for the most part," Browne said. "With de-commitments you never know. I'm sure I'll be talking to a few kids letting them know USC is the school for them. It's the school for me and I'll tell them why I chose it.
"On the other hand having all the guys committed, it will be nice in some sense just to enjoy the whole process and I'll make sure I'm taking in the whole setting of this all-star game. You only get to do it once. I'm going down there to make sure I have a good time and enjoy my last game in high school before I head down to USC."
