Brown wants to play

For Antioch, Tenn. running back Preston Brown it's not so much about which schools offer him a scholarship, but about who can offer the earliest playing time and he makes no bones about letting you know it.
"Every school that is recruiting me is recruiting me as a running back right now," Brown said. "If I were to go to Tennessee or somewhere then I would rather play cornerback. Looking at the depth chart Tennessee is very deep there. I want to play as a true freshman wherever I go and at Tennessee I could get on the field earlier there."

The 5-foot-9, 180-pound Brown attended the Oxford NIKE camp where he ran the 40-yard dash in 4.44 seconds and posted a 30-inch vertical jump.
"Right now my top schools are Oklahoma State, Tennessee and Auburn," Brown said. "Those may change because at any given time a team could enter the mix. Any school that is not too far and can offer early playing time I'm going to look at. I don't have to go to a big time school, I will go somewhere that is considered smaller if I can get on the field quicker."
As a junior he carried the ball 190 times for 1,311 yards and 13 touchdowns. Defensively he collected 55 tackles, one tackle for loss and four interceptions.
"I know that I am gong to take visits to Oklahoma State, Tennessee and Auburn," Browns said. "I will make my decision sometime after that. I am going up to Tennessee this weekend or next weekend and I am going to stay with Lamarcus Coker for the weekend."
While Brown says he wants on the field early and that he doesn't have a leader, the Vols appear to be the big leader.
"I will probably go to all of their home games this year to watch Lamarcus because he is expected to play a lot this year," Brown said. "They are losing some good players in the secondary like Jason Allen this year so there will probably be playing time available. I just need to talk to the coaches up there and I want to check out some other places."
