Sean Brown has committed to Tennessee — publicly.

The 6-foot-5, 230 pound tight end out of Rome (Ga.) Coosa just announced his commitment to the Volunteers late Friday night, but his mind was made up over a month and a half ago.

He thought about visiting LSU and Ole Miss, but in the end his love for Tennessee was too strong to hold off any longer. Brown has ended his recruitment and he chose Tennessee over Auburn.

IN HIS OWN WORDS: "I knew Tennessee was the place from the very beginning," Brown said. "After visiting there for the first time, it felt like home. Coach (Jeremy) Pruitt and the whole staff are very serious about bringing the real Tennessee football back to the SEC.

"Tennessee feels like home whenever I am there. Coach (Brian) Niedermeyer and I have a very strong relationship, and I can’t wait to be around him and let him teach me throughout the next three to four years.

"I know how coach Pruitt coaches. It’s obvious from Alabama’s success what he can do to a team. He had the best defense in the nation just about every year, and they were feared. I have a very strong belief that he can do the same thing at Tennessee with the whole team.

"The fans up in Knoxville are like no others. They want to win more than anybody in the country. Playing around those type of people that have a true love for their team is a perfect situation to be in.

"Throughout this process I’ve had people try to steer me away from Tennessee because they wouldn’t 'compete for a championship'. I want to change that. I want to be a part of the reason people fear Tennessee [football] again."

RIVALS REACTION: Tennessee is really doing some work in Georgia this cycle. What the Vols and Auburn are doing is very impressive. Out of their six commits, three are from Georgia and two are tight ends. Brown is one of the top four tight ends in Georgia and he joins good friend Jackson Lowe on the UT commitment list. Brown's heart has been set on Tennessee for some time. He was close to committing to the Vols the same day Lowe did (March 30). His decision was made long ago and he is very excited about making it public today.
