ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - - The Alabama Crimson Tide picked up Beaumont (Texas) Ozen cornerback Tony Brown during his live announcement at the Under Armour All-America Game. Brown chose the Tide over LSU, Ohio State, Texas, and USC.
Alabama offers the perfect opportunity for Brown to run track and play for head coach Nick Saban. Saban is known to be heavily involved with the defensive backs. The Alabama track team is working on building the program and Brown is one of the nation's top hurdlers along Marlon Humphrey.
Unfortunately, Brown wasn't able to participate in the all-star contest due to an upper extremity injury he suffered during Tuesday's practice. He didn't let his setback get him down when making his college decision. At the end of the day he picked the school that will allow him to make an impact competing in both sports.
Earlier in the week there was some chatter that Brown's mother wanted him in Tuscaloosa and those rumors came to fruition. Other reports had Brown tabbed for the LSU Tigers.
Brown is the fourth five-star commitment for the Tigers. He is also the highest rated defensive back commitment for Alabama.. He is the No. 1 rated prospect in Texas. This is another monster out of state pick up is big for Saban as Brown joins five-stars Da'Shawn Hand, Cameron Robinson, and Bo Scarbrough.
