Cincinnati (Ohio) Winton Woods class of 2015 offensive tackle George Brown's list of 33 scholarships includes several SEC programs. Georgia is on that list, and on Saturday the four-star prospect made his way down to Athens to see the Bulldogs host South Carolina.
"I have been to a few SEC games, but that was probably one of the bigger ones I've been to," Brown said. "The game was great and those were some of the best fans I have seen so far at a college game. It was a great visit."
Although just a junior, Brown is already a veteran of the college recruiting game. He has been on numerous campus visits, and is very specific about what he looks for when he goes into a visit like the one this weekend to Georgia.
"I really want to get a feel for the coaches before I commit to any college and I really like their coaches," Brown said. "They were real down to earth and most of them talked to me. It was my first visit to Georgia, so I wanted to get a feel for the campus and a feel for the coaches."
Brown was able to talk with Georgia head coach Mark Richt, offensive line coach Will Friend and defensive line coach Chris Wilson before Saturday's game.
"[Richt] was real laid-back," Brown said. "He didn't get to talk to us very long because he had to prepare for a game, but he is a real cool coach.
"Coach Wilson told me they're still not sure what position I'd play yet. It depends on how I do this year, but I could end up at defensive end as well."
Brown made the drive to Georgia with teammates and classmates Marcus Davis and David Long.
Next on Brown's visit schedule are trips to Kentucky on Sept. 14 and Florida on Sept. 21. Due to the close proximity of their campus to his home, Kentucky has hosted Brown several times before.
"I like Kentucky a lot," he said. "I know a lot of the 2014 commits - my cousin (Mike Edwards) is committed there right now. I just have to get there a few more times, but I like it so far."
Brown saw his offer list run to 33 schools with new tenders from Mississippi State and Washington State last week. He also plans calls to Oregon and Oklahoma State later Sunday because both schools were sent his early season film recently.
