Four-star athlete Ron Brooks is getting closer to a decision with two official visits remaining.
The 6-foot, 170-pound athlete has his list narrowed down to five schools which include Arkansas, Florida, LSU, Texas A&M, and Texas Tech. He's taken official visits to all of the schools except LSU and Florida. Brooks' coach Brian Basil says he'll take care of those two in the coming weeks and have a decision shortly after that.
"He's got his trip set up to LSU on Jan. 19," Basil said. "Then, he's been scheduled to take a trip to Florida on Jan. 26. I think he'll just be done with things and ready to decide after that."
The question on the minds of everyone is whether Brooks is leaning to the Tigers. Basil says that after returning from the U.S. Army All-American game, Brooks had plenty of contact with LSU commits.
"I think when he was in San Antonio, he made friends with some kids that committed to LSu and I think that he probably mentioned that's where he was leaning after that," Brooks said. "It's hard to say though with Florida winning the national championship. That can cloud the picture."
When Basil was asked if Brooks, the nation's No. 9 athlete prospect, will have a decision on Signing Day, he said that anything is possible.
"He's a pretty humble kid, so I don't know if he's going to have a big show on Signing Day and take away from his teammates," Basil said. "If he wanted to do something like that, he probably would have done something down there in San Antonio at the game.
"I'm going to talk with him a little bit. I can see him doing it a little bit before Signing Day."
