Corral becomes the most higly-sought after commit for the Rebels since signing Shea Patterson in 2016.

The moment Shea Patterson and Ole Miss agreed that seeking a transfer was in the best interest of both parties, Ole Miss knew they needed a quarterback in this class.

Today, they landed just that in four-star Long Beach (Calif.) Poly's Matt Corral.

Dan Mullen has had an interesting several days since taking over at the University of Florida. On Thursday night, those days became even more interesting.

He becomes the 12th commit for Ole Miss in the class of 2018, and instantly becomes the highest rated commit the Rebels have committed in this class.

Corral had other offers from Alabama, Texas A&M, and Michigan among others.

He is rated the No. 3 pro-style QB nationally, and at one point this season, was rated a five-star. Longo and the rest of the offensive staff (as well as head coach Matt Luke) have been in on Corral since late July after Luke was named the interim coach.

From a USC source that has seen him play several times, the comparisons between him and Shea Patterson will only grow:

“He’s one of the four best QB’s I have seen this season. Solid arm too. A little shorter than you’d like, but he makes up for it with his ability to move around in the pocket. He’s not what you’d call a ‘killer athlete’ but he can scramble when he needs to, and has the tools to be a successful college QB.”

He will sign next week and enroll early. Stay tuned to RebelGrove for the latest.
