IN HIS OWN WORDS...

"I committed and then Frank (Ladson) committed right after me," Phommachanh said. "I knew I was going to commit today. It felt like a big relief when I told coach Swinney. It felt like I finally did it. Coach Swinney was really excited.

"I just want to bring what I can to the table," he said. "I want to play my game and ball out. I think the system fits me perfectly. It's a spread system and I run the spread. They like to move the quarterbacks around and I move around a lot in my offense now.

"Having Frank there is big for me," said Phommachanh. "Having a target like him, I just need to get him the ball and he can make big plays. Once I talk to the coaches about who they really want to go after, I'll start making it happen.

"The fans made the atmosphere really great today," he said. "I think there were over 55,000 of them there."

RIVALS' REACTION...

Clemson made adding Phommachanh a top priority and it certainly paid off. He fits into Clemson's offensive system so well because he is a bigger quarterback with mobility and a big arm. Phommachanh will have time to develop his accuracy and fine tune his game but there is no doubt that his skillset is what Clemson wants behind center.
