Brandt back from another UCLA trip

Breland Brandt has been committed to UCLA since early October so of course he had a vested interest in the Bruins' matchup against USC this past weekend at the Rose Bowl.
UCLA dominated the game and beat its cross-town rival for the third straight season and the 2016 five-star linebacker from Los Angeles (Calif.) Windward was definitely excited about the performance.

"It was a lot of fun," Brandt said. "I had a great time. It was great to see what the big-time rivalry game is like.
"I took my mom and my grandma to the game. I basically hung out with them and I took them around the stadium, we got food, I talked to a few coaches like coach (Jeff) Ulbrich and I said hello to coach (Jim) Mora. After that I pretty much just watched the game with them.
"It was great to watch them destroy USC."
Brandt, ranked as the second-best weak-side defensive end and the No. 16 prospect in the 2016 class by Rivals.com, said he's thrilled about his future with the Bruins.
Many other programs had gotten involved early in his recruitment but Brandt said he loves the UCLA coaches and the program's direction. Seeing UCLA being so successful this season only reinforces that he made the right decision.
"I'm excited," Brandt said. "I can't wait.
"My role is the hybrid outside linebacker, going to get the quarterback when needed and dropping back in coverage when needed."
Some major programs are still pursuing the five-star prospect but Brandt has given no sign he's rethinking his decision one bit. Respectful of other coaches coming after him, the 2016 recruit will listen to their pitches but sounds like someone who's sticking with the Bruins.
"It's kind of been the same," Brandt said. "I still get a few things from a couple schools. I have talked to a couple coaches. I've talked to Alabama and USC so nothing has really slowed down that much."
