Brandon Jones stays home

Wide receiver Brandon Jones just started taking a month's worth of official visits last week. The Atco (N.J.) Winslow Township prospect quickly halted the rest of his visits yesterday and made a decision.
"I committed to Rutgers last night," he said. "My dad is kind of sick and I decided I wanted to stay closer to home. They have nice facilities, education wise it's a good school and they are a great football program. They have big-time football and that's what I want to do. It was a pretty clear decision that they were the right choice for me."

Jones gave his pledge to Coach Schiano last night.
"The whole staff was very, very excited," he said. "They all think I can do great things there.
"I like the coaches a lot too. They are really good guys and when I went on the unofficial there I felt comfortable and fit right in. I want to help keep the talent in Jersey."
Where does Rutgers see the two-star prospect making an impact?
"I want to play wide receiver, but they talked to me about how I'll get on the field faster on defense and punt returner," he said. "I still would like to play offense, but I'll do whatever gets me on the field. I know they have two big-time receivers there already and there's not much I can do about that.
"They did however mention I might be able to play next year due to their depth chart on defense if I work hard."
Jones added some final comments about his choice.
"I'm just really excited about the opportunity to play there," he said. "I'm glad I found my home."
Jones is already started to help the Scarlet Knights recruit for next year.
"I'm trying to get our quarterback, Ka' lial Glaud to come with me. I know he really likes Rutgers. He's going to be a top player in the junior class."
