Brain, brawn makes Rumsey a hot target

One of Georgia’s best and brightest offensive line prospects will be taking his first official visit this weekend. So who will be hosting Atlanta The Marist School offensive lineman Matt Rumsey this weekend?
“I’m going to take an official visit to Harvard,” Rumsey, who is 6-foot-4 and 260 pounds, said. “I’ve also set one up for Duke on January 9.”

With a frame like he has and a 1330 on the SAT, it’s easy to see why the academic schools are flocking to Atlanta to recruit this two-star prospect.
“I have really kind of narrowed it down to a couple of schools,” Rumsey said. “Harvard and Duke are the two leaders now, and I’m still talking to Rice and Northwestern. I have an offer from Duke and Harvard said it would support me through the admissions process, and that’s pretty much an offer.
“Rice is kind of a funny situation. They haven’t offered, but I was told that they would after the season is over, so I kind of consider that an offer, too.”
Rumsey and his teammates lost unexpectedly this past weekend, but in the end it might have been a good thing.
“It might be a blessing in disguise,” he said. “This is going to help us re-focus everything and work harder as we get ready for the playoffs.”
Those start next week and Rumsey is going to be a big reason why The Marist School is expected to cause some damage this year.
