Boykins narrows timeframe, names leader

Earlier this month, four-star wide receiver Kerry Boykins out of Chesapeake (Va.) Oscar Smith cut his list of favorites to three. The 6-foot-1, 200-pounder is getting closer to a decision, but has one more visit to go before he decides.
"I'm still down to Maryland, North Carolina and Virginia," he said. "Between July 24th and the 27th I'll be taking a visit to Maryland. A decision shouldn't be too long after that. More than likely I'll have it done by the time we start practice on August 1st."

The Terrapins will have the final shot to sway Boykins. What is he hoping to see on the trip?
"When I visited Maryland the other time I didn't get to see that much of the campus," he said. "I just saw the football part. This time I want to see what they have to offer and see the entire campus."
Is anyone leading for the Rivals250 prospect?
"I'd say Maryland is my number one school right now," he said. "I've liked Maryland since my sophomore year. They've been recruiting me heavily and I like the parts of campus I've seen. The fan support there is crazy and the coaching staff is cool too."
Boykins confirmed that Virginia and North Carolina are closely trailing Maryland.
"They are in there, but Maryland stands out," he said. "The fact Todd (Harrelson) committed to North Carolina affects me some, but not too much.
"I like North Carolina. I know they are building the program up and have Butch Davis. He came from Miami where they were winning championships. They've talked about me seeing the field early.
"As for Virginia, they've talked about early playing time too. Their coaching staff is cool and they are remodeling a lot of the buildings, weight rooms and locker rooms."
