Boykin lands Ohio State offer

Offer No. 15 for Rivals250 wide receiver Miles Boykin of New Lenox (Ill.) Providence Catholic came through Wednesday evening from the Ohio State Buckeyes.
"They have been recruiting me for awhile - since the beginning of my junior season," Boykin said. "Coach [Chris] Ash told me to call him and that's when he gave me the good news. Later on this weekend they are going to get me on the phone with Coach [Urban] Meyer, so I am pretty excited about that."

Over the course of his recruitment with the Buckeyes, Boykin has been able to glean from their staff what attracts them to the 6-foot-3, 212-pound jumbo receiver.
"I think they like my athletic ability," Boykin said. "I am faster than I think most tight ends would be considered, and I think they are excited about that and how big I am and how much room for improvement I have."
Boykin is not 100 percent sure Ohio State is still recruiting him as a tight end. Early in this recruitment tight end was the position they discussed, but with more teams recruiting him as a wide receiver Boykin is not sure if the Buckeyes are thinking along those lines as well now. He plans to discuss that with Meyer later this week.
Ohio State signed two players out of the Chicagoland area in the 2014 class, including offensive tackle Jamarco Jones. Boykin and Jones both work out at Core 6 Athletes and know each other well.
"Jamarco, I talked to him at the Core 6 banquet, set next to him and his mom. He is a great guy," Boykin said. "He was telling me how it is a great place and if you want to get championships, that's the place you need to go."
Boykin also has his own previous experiences to rely upon when evaluating Ohio State, and has a high opinion of the program heading into the next phase of his recruitment.
"The weight that it holds… everything about Ohio State is awesome," Boykin said. "When I visited there for the Penn State game [in October], they sold out and the place was just crazy."
Boykin expects his next visit to Ohio State to take place later this spring when he and his Core 6 teammates take a trip to Columbus, but the exact date of that visit has not been scheduled.
