Boyd goes big

Houston (Texas) Stratford 2016 Rivals250 running back Rakeem Boyd saw the 2014 season come to a close as Temple topped Stratford 47-35 in the playoffs. However, the standout running back did not go down without a fight.
Boyd scored five touchdowns on the evening, and rushed for 456 yards on 38 carries. The effort gave him 2,519 rushing yards and 29 touchdowns on 246 carries for an average over 10 yards a carry on the season.

The 6-foot, 190-pound back may not hold his first scholarship offer, but he is receiving plenty of attention from college coaches. In fact, he plans to take his first college unofficial visit on Thursday.
"I think I have a visit to Texas Thursday," Boyd said. "They want me to come up."
Boyd plans to be in Austin on Thursday, and he has also been hearing quite a bit from an SEC school.
"And I've been hearing from Arkansas a lot too," Boyd said.
The two programs have shown the most interest in Boyd, and while he has yet to see the two programs in person, he has liked what he has seen on TV.
"Arkansas, I liked their running style. I like that type of running," Boyd said. "Texas, they're pretty good. It's the same kind of style just not as much pounding."
Oklahoma has also shown significant interest in Boyd.
Boyd is currently ranked No. 187 in the 2016 Rivals250, No. 12 among the nation's 2016 running backs, and No. 20 in the Rivals.com Texas Initial Top 75 for 2016.
