Richmond (Va.) Hermitage’s Andrew Bowman has seen the recruiting process heat up over the last several months. The three-star inside linebacker is rated the No. 12 prospect in the talent-rich state of Virginia by Rivals.com and currently has nine scholarship offers in hand.
Virginia Tech, Virginia, East Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, Purdue, Clemson, Rutgers, and Duke have all been impressed enough with Andrew’s exploits on the field over the last two seasons to send him official invitations to attend their schools. Although widely considered to be an in-state lean, he said five of these schools actually stand a chance to gain his signature in February.
“I like Virginia Tech, Virginia, Tennessee, Purdue, and North Carolina,” he commented. “Basically I like the atmospheres at all the schools I’ve been to, like Virginia Tech, UVA, and UNC. I haven’t been to Purdue or Tennessee.”
He has set up official visits to Virginia on Nov. 28 and Virginia Tech on Dec.12 and hopes to set up trips to his other favorites soon. He would like to make a decision before February, but does not have a definite timeframe.
“It is basically just going to come down to how I feel,” he said.
The 6-foot-1, 220 pound prospect runs the 40-yard dash in 4.5 seconds, and has recorded more than 65 total tackles (2 for loss) and two sacks, in leading Hermitage to a 7-0 record.
