A lot of anticipation surrounded Manny Bowen's visit to Penn State last weekend. The linebacker from Barnegat (N.J.) was offered by the Nittany Lions, and there was a rumor that he might commit. Although he did not commit to Penn State, Bowen really enjoyed his time and PSU remains one of his top schools.
"It was great," the 6-foot-2, 206-pound Bowen said. "When I first got there we watched practice then toured the facilities. I sat down with coach (James) Franklin and coach (Marc) Fry and that's when we discussed the offer and relationship we are going to build during this recruiting process."
Bowen had been hoping for an offer from Penn State for a long time now.
"I was really excited when they offered me because Penn State is one of the schools I'm really taking a hard look at," he said. "They made a good impression on me. I was surprised what they had to offer me, not just with football, but in academics too. That was a main focus of the visit yesterday and I really liked what they showed me."
Bowen still has a lot of research to do before making any sort of commitment.
"It's the biggest decision I'm going to make in my life, so I just want to be 100 percent sure before I make any decisions," Bowen said. "I look forward meeting all the schools and I want to give other people a chance to show me what they're all about but Penn State made a good impression on me."
Bowen will be working on his upcoming visit schedule this week.
