Boston College lands Ohio WR Stoneburner

Dublin (Ohio) Coffman wide receiver Caleb Stoneburner’s name has been on the recruiting scene since well before his junior season, but it was not until this past spring that his recruitment started to take off. On Thursday that recruitment ended with the three-star announcing his commitment to Boston College.

WHAT HAPPENED

After a slow start to his recruiting process, Stoneburner started to see his offer list explode this spring, eventually accumulating more than a dozen scholarship offers. Boston College was the most recent of those offers, arriving just two weeks ago. He immediately followed that up with a visit to their campus last week, and after taking a few days to reflect on his options, made the call for the Eagles.

IN HIS WORDS

“I committed there because I just felt like they were my second family! I really liked the campus and how they ran things down there. I also like how they see me in the future as an Eagle.”

RIVALS’ REACTION

The 6-foot-4, 200-pound Stoneburner is the younger brother of former Ohio State and current NFL tight end Jake Stoneburner. Whereas his brother was always slotted for the tight end position in college, the younger Stoneburner has shown the speed and quickness to stay on the outside while not being quite as big at the same stage. Boston College sees him starting out as a big wide receiver, and then will monitor his growth and could move him to a flex tight end later in his career.
