It seems like Arizona always has at least one or two elite level offensive linemen every year and this year's top guy appears to be Daniel Borg. Borg, 6-6, 285 pounds from Tucson (Ariz.) Ironwood is up to four scholarship offers and made a few changes at the top of his list.
Borg has plus size and strength and shows up very well on film. He's a physical player who finishes his blocks well and once he locks in on his man, it's over. He's not quite as explosive firing off the ball as Mission Viejo's (Calif.) Kevin Bemoll or Crenshaw's (Calif.) Aleksey Lanis but is far from a plodder and is able to bend at the hips really well giving him an extra punch when he attacks opposing linemen.
On the recruiting front, Borg has scholarship offers from Oregon State, Arizona, Vanderbilt and Nebraska and is also hearing from Stanford, Washington, UCLA, Cal, USC, Oregon, Arizona State, Washington State, Colorado, Texas A&M and Air Force.”
“Stanford is my top school,” Borg said. “Stanford is in a great conference and a team I think is on the rise. They are also one of the top academic institutions in the country. My dad went to Colorado and they were my favorite school growing up but I'm not really looking at them as much right now.
"Oregon State, Washington, UCLA and Nebraska would round out my top five. I want to go to a school where I have a chance to compete and somewhere I can get a top notch education. I won't commit early but will wait to talk things over with my parents and coaches.”
Borg currently has a 4.1 GPA and scored an 1180 on his SAT. He'll attend the Nike Camp at Stanford in May as well as team camps at Washington and Stanford.
