Bone Crusher sets up first official visit

The nation’s No. 6 defensive tackle, Eric “The Bone Crusher” McLendon of Vidalia, Ga., is down to his final five and has lined up his first official visit. So who’s at the top of his list and which team was first to line up a visit with the 6-foot-6, 288-pound four-star selection?
Actually it’s the same team, the Georgia Bulldogs.

“Oh yeah, Georgia is still my No. 1 team,” McLendon said. “I’ve always liked them and still do. I set up my visit with Georgia for January 9.”
McLendon said the other four trips will be to Auburn, Florida, Florida State and Miami. He said he just eliminated LSU, South Carolina and Tennessee officially this past week.
“I don’t have dates set with those guys yet, but it’s coming,” McLendon said.
But McLendon does have a few other important things on his mind, including keeping Vidalia unbeaten on the season. His team is 6-0-1 on the season with the only blemish coming in a tie with Swainsboro in non-region play.
“We’ve already locked up a playoff spot,” McLendon said. “We’re just now playing for a higher seed. Nobody is going to beat us the rest of the season and it’s time to get focused on the playoffs.”
And it is in the playoffs, where McLendon said he’s hoping somebody finally runs his way.
“Nobody has challenged me yet,” McLendon said. “It’s kind of frustrating, but we’re winning games, so I guess that’s all that matters.”
