Bond a physical RB for 2005

One of the most physically gifted players in Tennessee for the Class of 2005 is Brownsville Haywood running back/linebacker Jacolby Bond.
A 6-foot, 210-pound running back with 4.5 speed, Bond is also the state record holder in his age/weight class for the bench press at well over 300 pounds.

Those physical tools helped him dominate as a junior, leading west Tennessee with 1,787 yards (7.5 ypc) and 18 touchdowns.
“Jacolby is one of the hardest workers I’ve been around,” Haywood coach Mark Stowe said. “He’s always in the weightroom. Whatever you put on the bar, that’s what he can lift. He’s an incredibly powerful kid.
“That’s the thing that makes him such a good runner. The first guy is never going to bring him down. It takes two or three. He’s just a physical, aggressive kid who enjoys the contact, enjoys the pounding. And he gets stronger as the game goes on.”
Stowe said Bond has been starting to draw attention from the college ranks heading into spring practice.
“Memphis, Tennessee, Louisville, Southern Miss, Michigan, Georgia Tech, LSU just to name a few,” he said. “We’ve had letters from all over. We’re expecting a lot of these schools to come by this spring.”
Bond’s favorite school is Tennessee.
“He’s not just a great player, but a great kid, too,” Stowe said. “He’s the type of kid every coach wants on his team.”
