Boise State lands stellar sleeper

Boise State once again proves why they have become a program to reckon with. The Broncos were able to land defensive back Duran Cooley (6-2, 210, 4.52) from Los Angeles (Calif.) Cathedral.
Cooley kind of got lost in the recruiting shuffle when Los Angeles (Calif.) Verbum Dei dropped football. Cooley transferred to Los Angeles (Calif.) Cathedral and was able to get back on the recruiting radar.

Cooley took a trip to Hawaii on January 17th. Duran had a great trip to Hawaii and came very close to committing to the Warriors. Thankfully for the Broncos of Boise State Cooley decided to take trips. His trip to Boise State was all it took.
Cooley chose Boise State over other offers from Hawaii and Utah.
The selling ticket on Cooley is his versatility. Boise State and Utah like him as a Rover or outside linebacker. Arizona and Hawaii like him as a safety.
Cooley projects as a Rover for Boise State.
“Duran is very tough and physical,” Cathedral offensive coordinator Derwin Henderson said. “He’s also very athletic and can cover the slot.”
“Duran is a very sure tackler,” Cooley said. “He’s a very intelligent football who has the leadership qualities you like to see.”
Cooley amassed 90 tackles and had five picks from his safety position. He is also a terrific return man who returned three punts and two kicks for touchdowns.
“Duran called me from Boise State and said he really loves it there,” Henderson said. “He told me he committed to Boise State while on the trip.
