Boilermakers take a Texan

San Antonio (Texas) Madison athlete/dual-threat quarterback Christian Caflisch has been leaning toward Purdue for quite some time. But the only thing that kept him from making an oral commitment was an official scholarship offer from the Boilermakers.
But that changed on Thursday of last week.

That's when Purdue assistant Bob DeBesse called an offered the 6-foot-2, 178-pounder a scholarship. It was an offer that Caflisch didn't take long to accept.
"He committed to them right after the offer," Caflisch's father, Todd, said. "We were up at Purdue in August, and my son has been very impressed with them the entire process. He liked the school and the coaches seemed to be pretty good.
"He was excited when coach DeBesse made the offer. It was one that he couldn't refuse."
Caflisch is one of the top players in San Antonio and a member of one of the better teams in the region. He also had a scholarship offer from UTEP and was getting regular attention from Northwestern, Oklahoma State, Texas A&M and TCU.
"I don't even think he's told all the people at school yet, because we wanted you guys to be the first to know," his father said. "He's really excited, and so are we at home. His mom (Debbie) is really proud of him."
Caflisch was clocked at 4.68-seconds in the 40-yard dash at the Ft. Worth NIKE Training Camp.
