Bluegrass star enjoys Marshall visit

Lexington (Ky.) Lafayette linebacker/defensive end Bilal El-Amin took an official visit to MAC country this weekend.
“I just got back from Marshall,” he said. “It was a nice trip. I liked everything about it. It’s going to be a tough decision now between them and Kentucky. I have to do some more studying before I decide.”

El-Amin (6-4, 235, 4.7) has a full scholarship offer from the Thundering Herd, while the Wildcats have offered a “grayshirt” deal for next January.
“Marshall has an advantage with their tradition, too,” he said. “They’re a winning program. They go to bowl games every year. They put a lot of their players in the NFL.
“It’s also a nice school and community. They have a good academic reputation and high graduation rates.”
El-Amin said he also likes the opportunity to make an early impact with the Herd.
“They have three defensive ends right now, and two of them are seniors,” he said. “The other one is a junior. There’s a real good chance for me to be on the depth chart competing for some clock my freshman year, and the next season I’d have a pretty good situation.”
He plans to have a decision by the end of next week.
“I’m going to spend some time sitting down with my parents and coach Harmon this week, weighing out all my options,” he said.
El-Amin recorded 47 tackles, 11 tackles for loss and five sacks as a senior.
