Bluegrass DE/LB reschedules visit

Lexington (Ky.) Lafayette defensive end/outside linebacker Bilal El-Amin was scheduled to take his first official visit this weekend, but an illness forced him to postpone the date.
“I’ve been down with the flu, so I didn’t get to go on my visit to Kentucky,” he said. “I called the coaches and let them know, and we’re going to set it up for some other time.”

El-Amin (6-4, 235, 4.7) said he expects to visit Kentucky, Marshall and Miami of Ohio at some point. Purdue, Northwestern and Louisville are three other schools which have offered and remain possibilities.
“Marshall and Kentucky came to see me at the house,” he said. “Coach Gale from Marshall was here. I liked him a lot. They have a good program, and it’s not very far from home. He says I have a good chance to come in there and play some as a freshman, and possibly be a starter the next year. They have two senior defensive ends, but after that, it looks pretty good.
“Kentucky likes me as an outside linebacker. Coach Archer came to talk to me. I like him, too. He’s a real knowledgeable guy who has coached some great players in the pros. And, of course, they’re very close to home. They’re probably my leader right now because of that.”
He said Miami has not made an in-home visit yet, but he still has interest in the Red Hawks.
“I got a chance to watch them on TV a couple of times this year,” he said. “They have a great team. I was very impressed.”
He’s also receiving heavy attention from Eastern Kentucky and Western Kentucky, but would like to explore his options at the higher D-I level at this point.
As a senior, El-Amin recorded 41 tackles, six tackles for loss and three sacks for the Generals.
Academically, he maintains a 3.1 GPA and is awaiting his latest test scores.
