Blue makes his commitment

Boca Raton (Fla.) West Boca Raton linebacker Jawand Blue, who holds more than 15 offers at this time, decided on Wednesday morning that he was ready to make a selection from his choices.
"I committed to Virginia Tech," Blue said. "I called in the morning around 10:30 and told Coach (Charley) Wiles. He was really excited. He said he was looking forward to seeing me this weekend because I am going up there this weekend to visit. He just told me that Coach (Frank) Beamer wants to sit down and talk with me as well as the rest of the coaches, including Coach Bud Foster."

The 6-foot, 195-pound three-star linebacker said the decision was an easy one to make after lengthy discussions with his primary recruiter.
"I like the coaches and their tradition," Blue said. "I talked with Coach Wiles and got to know him a little bit. He told me the truth about everything, their recruiting situation, so it made me feel comfortable in committing there."
In addition to a level of comfort with the program, the outside linebacker is also interested because of the Hokies success on the field throughout the years.
"They always have pretty good linebackers, defensive backs - a good defense overall," Blue said. "They always win a lot of games. When they were in the Big East they won Big East Championships and they have done pretty well consistently over the years since moving to the ACC. They have great coaches and run a great system. I just like that about them."
Blue, who said he is very confident in his decision, does intend to still utilize at least some of his five official visits in the fall.
"I will probably take official visits to some other schools," Blue said.
As a junior, Blue accumulated 99 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, four sacks, four forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries.
