Blue discusses favorites

Dallas (N.C.) North Gaston quarterback A.J. Blue continues to have three schools standing out for his services. The 6-foot-3, 208-pounder holds an offer from just one of those programs. Is he close to landing scholarships from the other two?
"I continue to favor the same three schools, NC State, North Carolina and Illinois," he stated. "I'm just getting back into recruiting. I finished summer school this week and am now waiting for my grades.

"North Carolina and NC State haven't offered. They are waiting until the season starts to see if I can stay in my grove on the field and in the classroom. Both of those schools are staying in pretty regular contact with me."
Meanwhile, Illinois continues to stay on top of the three-star prospect.
"I've been talking to their coaches one to two times a week. I'm continuing to get to know them better," he said. "They want me to come up for an official in September."
Is Blue favoring the Illini?
"Of course, that's my first offer and they are in the Big Ten which is a good league to be in," he said. "I couldn't ask for more than that. I haven't been up there though so I can't really say much since I've got to meet the coaches and see the school."
Expecting to take a visit early this fall, is there a chance the No.25 dual-threat quarterback in the country could commit on the visit?
"I like Illinois a lot, but that's a long way away from home," he said. "I don't want to just let it go like that.
"North Carolina and North Carolina State are close and I want to see what they do. I do really like UNC a lot too. I also want to see what my mom says about everything."
Blue maintains he continues to receive interest from a couple other schools including Virginia Tech and Tennessee.
