He has no offers, but he is hearing from Missouri, Nebraska, Colorado State, Kansas State, Penn State, Boston College, Oklahoma and others. He has unofficial visits to games planned for October 13 to the Kansas - Oklahoma game, October 27th for the Nebraska - Oklahoma game and to Missouri providing the schedules can be matched.
"I won't be looking at distance. I have a brother at Boston College and I want the coaches and people in the program to be nice and personable as I'm going to have to spend a lot of time with them. I'm going to look at the opportunities the school will give me in attending there and the location of the school. If the location is a nice atmosphere, a good college town atmosphere will be a major plus for the school," Kevin said.
"I'm keeping an open mind about all the schools and they are all being considered equally in my mind. My dad played at Nebraska back in the 70's, so he is inclined to lean towards them and they would have to be my childhood favorite and dream school, because I've grown up hearing about them," Kane said. "Since I can only take five official visits and I've already been to Kansas State on my own, they'd be the one out of the top six that wouldn't get an official visit."
If he had to make his official visits, they would be to the following (his comments follow):
Missouri - "I know players there and they enjoy it except for the win-loss record lately. They recommend it as a good school."
Nebraska - "The tradition and they are always good, the fan loyalty and they are my childhood favorite, as my dad played there."
Colorado State - "The location of the campus, the coaches are nice and they have good potential."
Penn State - "My college counselor recommended them. They are a late school that has come on strong lately. I received the first letter about a month ago and they are now coming pretty steady. The tradition there is great and they are known as linebacker U."
Boston College - "I have a brother there and Boston is a great town. The family influence makes for some strong pulls towards a tradition of your own."
Kevin lists his strong points as - "My knowledge of the game and tendencies of opponents. I study film well, make good reads and get to the ball quick."
He describes himself as - "A blue collar player. I'm not as big or fast as some of the guys. I just get it done."
The most impressive coach he's talked to - "The Colorado State coach, he was just a real nice guy."
