Also, he is getting letters from Northwestern, Notre Dame, Southern Mississippi, North Texas State, Purdue, Kansas, Georgia Tech, Texas Tech, Memphis State, Duke, Wisconsin, Florida, UCLA, Miami of Florida, Colorado State, Army and Navy. New Mexico has also started sending letters.
Distance will not be a factor in his decision.
He is looking at the academics and environment or atmosphere of the school.
"I want to feel like I'm at home, when I get there," Marvin said.
As far as the football program - "I'm looking at the early playing time possibilities," Byrdsong said. "My mom says that she's moving with me, because I'm the youngest and the last to leave home.''
Marvin will probably make his decision in the last week of January. "I'm going to take full advantage of the process," Byrdsong said.
He is leaning towards Mississippi State, as one of their coaches told him last week that he was the number one Linebacker on their recruiting list. He also has a brother at Mississippi State.
If he had to make his official visits, they would be to the following (his comments follow):
Florida State - "It is my dream school."
Arkansas - "The coaches are nice and the defensive schemes are similar to my high school's, so it would be easy to fit in."
Tennessee - "The new facilities are great and I like the program and coaches. It's a school turning around."
Texas - "It's close to home and they have good coaches and a good team"
LSU - "The coaches are nice and I promised them a visit."
Why is not Mississippi State on your visit list, if that's where you're leaning?
Marvin said, "I can visit Mississippi State anytime."
