Distance will be a small factor in his decision, while the best fit academically and physically will be the main factors in the decision.
If he had to make his official visits, they would be to the following (his comments follow):
Michigan – "I like the program, the academics and coaching staff. I dislike that they don't throw to the tight end a lot."
Miami – "I like the program, academics, coaching staff and the style of offense, because they throw to the tight end more. Its drawback is distance."
Oklahoma – "It's close, has a good program and high academics."
Florida State – "A great program, national contender year in and year out, and Bobby Bowden is the head coach."
UCLA – "Great academics and it's on the West Coast. It's a program on the rise."
He has an official visit to Miami set for January 20th.
His leading contenders at this time are Florida State, Miami, Michigan and Oklahoma. UCLA may change as his fifth visit at a later time. "I'll make my decision after my visits in December and January," Curtis said.
He kicks off this season against Chisolm High School on August 31st.
